Braglands Barn Garden

April

April always seems to be the month when the garden really gets going and the beds and borders start to 'bulk up'.

Camellias, hellebores and a splendid pulmonaria in the back garden.

Our earliest dwarf rhododendron - it is often frosted but this year the flowers survived longer than usual.

Exochordia x macrantha 'The Bride'

Amelanchier lamarkii.

Spiraea japonica 'Gold Flame'

Euphorbia palustris 'Walenburg's Glorie' has grown to full size and in flower long before many of its colleagues in the bog garden have started to shoot.  It has bigger and longer lasting flowers than the species.

Daphne tangutica smells even better than it looks.

Mahonia aquifolium 'Apollo' - a splendid free flowering sweetly scented form.
